  • Congratulations to Becky Goldbach who took 1st place in the AAEA Graduate Student Extension Competition. Becky received her award at the 2011 annual AAEA conference held in Pittsburgh, PA.

  • The College of Agricultural Sciences held its Spring Recognition Reception. Dr. Kellie Enns was the recipient of the 2011 Charles N. Shepardson Faculty Teaching Award. Grad student Daniel Deisenroth received the Charles N. Shepardson Graduate Teaching Award and undergraduate student Ryan Seifkas was awarded the 2011 Agricultural Student Leadership Award.

  • The Department Ag & Resource Economics held its annual recognition BBQ in April. The following students were presented awards. Cooper Anderson and Ryan Seifkas were co-recipients of the Senior Leadership Achievement Award. Jordan McHenry and Eric Hinton were co-recipients of the Senior Academic Achievement Award. The Outstanding Senior Award went to Kelsey Heupel. The Oustanding Junior was Sarah Dominick. Liza Poet and Clayton Miller were both named Outstanding Sophmores. Elisabeth Larson was the Outstanding Freshmen awardee.

  • Cathy Thomas , a 2010 graduate, submitted her thesis entitled, "A Cost-Benefit Analysis of Preventative Management for Zebra and Quagga Mussels in the Colorado-Big Thompson System." The award will be presented at the WAEA Awards Dinner on June 30 in Banff, Canada

  • Daniel Deisenroth has been selected through a competitive process to be one of twenty-three, 2011 Environmental Science Communication Fellows at CSU, and to participate in an interactive communication training workshop led by nationally known journalists on May 9-11, 2011.  Recognizing the need to build the capacity of young scientists to communicate effectively about their work with society, Daniel and other Ph.S. students and post docs will be participating in an exciting one-on-one session with journalists.  This 2011 cohort of Envronmental Science Communications Fellows, sponsored byt he Center for Multiscale Modeling of Atmospheric Processes (CMMAP), The Graduat Degree Program in Ecology (GDPE), and the School of Global Environmental Sustainability (SoGES), represents a wide range of disciplins, including ecology, veterinary medicine, statistics, human dimensions of natural resources, agricultural science, atompospheric sciences and zoology.

  • Barb Brown was recognized with the State Classified Distinguished Service Award which was presented at the College of Ag Sciences Winter Recognition Reception. Three of our Grad Students were recognized as well. Daniel Deisenroth was the receipient of two scholarships: CSU College of Agriculture "Ag Day" Scholarship and the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association Travel Scholarship. Rebecca Goldbach was recognized as Economic Reaseach Service Outstanding Graduate Summer Intern and Sam Evans received Honorable Mention for Economic Research Outstanding Graduate Summer Intern.

  • Congratulations to Dr. Chris Goemans, awardee of the 2010 Charles N. Shepardson Faculty Teaching Award!
  • Congratulations to Dr. Dana Hoag, who was named a Distinguished Scholar of the Western Agricultural Economics Association in 2009. He now joins Dr. John Loomis as the second current DARE faculty member so named.
  • Congratulations to Dr. Craig Bond, awardee of the 2009 Charles N. Shepardson Faculty Teaching Award!
  • Congratulations to Dr. James Pritchett, awardee of the Western Agricultural Economics Association Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award (less than 10 years experience)!
  • Best wishes to Dr. Gorm Kipperberg and Dr. Yuko Onozaka on thier new appointments in Norway!
  • Dr. James Pritchett received the 2008 Charles N. Shepardson/NACTA Meritorious Teaching Award. Congratulations!

  • Congrats to Kelly Moyer, Ryan Siefkas, Laurie Seymour, and Allison Gunter, who took 2nd place in the Student Marketing Challenge at the 50th Annual Food Distribution Research Society Meetings!
  • The Ag Adventure program was named “Outstanding Education Exhibit” at the 2008 National Western Stock Show. Ag Adventure, a student-run program introduces all aspects of agriculture to elementary-aged children. The group, supervised by Marshall Frasier, hopes to expand the program to other functions such as State-Fair in Pueblo.
  • Recent job listings and internship opportunities are available in DARE News and Views newsletters.
  • Changes to the All University Core Curriculum (AUCC) have been approved, and will be effective for Fall, 2007. Details of the transition can be found here.

    Dr. Craig Bond has been appointed the new Graduate Coordinator. Thanks to Dr. John Loomis for his service in that capacity over the past few years.
  • The inaugural Ag and Resource Economics and Economics Department Graduate Research Symposium has been sheduled for February 6, 2009. Submissions are due to Dave Gebbon by 11:59 PM on Jan 3, 2009.
  • Updated Ph.D. requirements, including field exam topic lists and procedures, have been posted here.

  • The article "A Joint Estimation Method to Combine Dichotomous Choice CVM Models Corrected for Truncation and Endogenous Stratification," by Juan Marcos Gonzales, John Loomis, and Armando Gonzalez-Cabon, has been choosen as the 2008 Outstanding Journal Article by the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics! Congratulations!

  • Congratulations to Adam Smith and Amanda Zeihl on their engagement. They both were graduate students here a few years ago and are now working in Georgia. Their wedding is June 21, 2008.
  • Congratulations to Lindsey Ellingson! She has accepted an Assistant Professor or Lecturer position at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand. She will be starting the end of February and teaching undergraduate and graduate microtheory as well as working with water allocation issues.
