Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park is located about 45 minutes from award-winning Fort Collins.

Position:

Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics

Specialization in Agribusiness Management: Agricultural Production, Finance or Supply Chain Management


Description of Responsibilities

The initial appointment will be approximately 40% teaching (which represents 2-3 semester classes per year and an outreach expectation), 50% research and 10% service. Classes to be taught will be graduate and undergraduate offerings in several of the following areas, depending on interest and the department’s needs: microeconomics, agricultural marketing, production, policy, and quantitative methods. The incumbent will advise undergraduate and graduate students and develop an innovative applied research program within the first two years of employment. The incumbent will publish in refereed journals, provide service to the University and profession, and participate in departmental outreach.


Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in agricultural economics, applied economics, business, or related field.
  • Ability to develop a teaching/applied research program in agricultural economics.
  • Training and demonstrated projects with production, finance, supply chain management, risk management, logistics or applied industrial organization of agribusiness supply firms.
  • Research productivity as evidenced by graduate research, references, disciplinary presentations and/or research publication.
  • Teaching ability at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Facility with economic theory, quantitative methods and their application to applied problems.
  • Ability and intention to aggressively pursue contract and grant funding.
  • Ability to communicate research results to a diverse set of industry, government and academic audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in collaborating with diverse clientele groups relevant to Colorado and the Western region.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Industry/farm/ranch experience and background in agriculture.
  • An ability to align with College of Agricultural Sciences Strategic Initiatives.
  • Background project work in interdisciplinary research and outreach.
  • Work experience, background or past research on the U.S. livestock sector.
  • Ability to teach courses from the Department’s offerings in Management, Production, Industrial Organization (e.g., Agent Based Modeling, Contract Theory, etc.) or Finance.
