Overview
Welcome to the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (DARE) at Colorado State University, established in 1983. We are located along the Northern Front Range of Colorado in the City of Fort Collins, about an hour north of Denver, and situated right at the intersection of the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains.
As befits our physical location, our undergraduate and graduate programs offer challenging, highly-valued applied economic and business training for our students, with an emphasis on agricultural, natural resource, and environmental issues. Our 17 permanent and 3 special appointment faculty members are actively involved in research, extension, and outreach in such diverse topic areas as Agricultural Economics and Marketing, Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, Development Economics, and other important local, regional, and national topics. Our close relationships with various public and private organizations provide many opportunities for experiential learning and applied research, and our Department was recently ranked #1 in faculty productivity in the discipline according to Academic Analytics.
