Research Interests:
My current research interests span the fields of agricultural economics, environmental economics, and natural resource economics, especially relating to the interactions between the three fields. Current projects include estimation of dynamic production functions for use in modeling production behavior under limited irrigation, modeling the economic impact of aquaculture suppliers of recreational fish, optimal management of high elevation forests in the presence of an invasive species, modeling adaptive management, including optimal ecosystem management, learning, and experimentation under deep uncertainty, and several land use projects.

Recent publications and other written works have focused on quasi-public attribute valuation of food products, theoretical aspects of agricultural sustainability, estimating pollution abatement costs at the farm level, demand and willingness to pay for specialty food and other produce products, as well as econometric exercises in farmers’ preferences, the behavior of agricultural PACs, and the relationship between democracy, freedom, and environmental quality.

Future research will continue to focus on various applied economic topics across the three fields, with an emphasis on empirical stochastic dynamic optimization and the treatment of information, resource/attribute valuation, consumer choice, and other applied econometric and simulation methods.
